Info and Links from Indivisible SF’s Direct Action Safety Monitor Training

Here are the info and links from Indivisible SF’s Direct Action Safety Monitor training held on March 28th. Good info to have for all events – it’s best to be prepared and never have to use!

We hope that, with this knowledge, you’ll be able to prevent situations from escalating and help everyone go home safe.

Here is the video of the training. If you missed part of it, please block off the time and make sure you watch the whole thing. Yes, it’s a lot, but there’s a lot of information in here that you need to know.

Things that you should do RIGHT NOW:

  • Install Signal (secure messenger app) on your phone
  • Set up Signal on your phone—create your account, set your username, join the group chat somebody in your group has created for your action (or be the person who creates it and invites others)

Things that someone on your event’s organizing team should do ASAP:

  • Contact your local NLG chapter and request legal observers at your action
  • Contact your local street medic group (if you have one) and invite them to your action

We mentioned MoveOn’s de-escalation training. That happened on April 2 and has now concluded. You can get those materials, including the one-hour video of that training, here: https://moveon.org/RallyPrep

Have a safe event and we’ll see you at the next protest.
